(LA)HORDE has never been afraid to step outside the frame, quite the opposite. Since its founding in 2013, under the guidance of the trio Marine Brutti, Jonathan Debrouwer, and Arthur Harel, the French collective has consistently surprised audiences with bold, experimental work. Appointed to lead the Ballet national de Marseille in 2019, they have infused it with multidisciplinary performances, where dance meets video and installation, charged with a protest-driven, almost punk spirit, fully aligned with their resolutely contemporary choreographies.
“(LA)HORDE starts from bodies as they exist today: exposed, connected, traversed by flows of images, rules, and desires. Bodies that move between public space, networks, margins, and institutions. For us, movement is both a tool for observation and a language. It tells of ways of being together, of resisting, of transforming. It partly eludes rational interpretation: it speaks to instinct, to something rawer, more primal. Our work unfolds over the long term. Projects develop, overlap, and echo one another. 2026 will be a moment of emergence, when several lines of research take form.”
Powerful, committed, and vibrant, (LA)HORDE and the Ballet national de Marseille remain in constant motion and will present a new creation at the Théâtre de la Ville in June 2026. “It is a central project for us, one that condenses several years of work and marks an important stage in the way we think about the collective”, explain Marine, Jonathan, and Arthur.
